For those of us that love Halloween and all that it entails, New Haven has a number of activities to fulfill your wicked wishes this October. New England is said to be one of the most haunted places in America, and residents of New Haven know how to have fun this time of year!
The Shoreline Trolley Museum’s Haunted Isle is from October 2nd-30th, on Fridays & Saturdays from 7-10 pm. According to to their website, legend has it that somewhere in the woods at the end of the trolley tracks, lurk the things that nightmares are made of. This fall a lonely trolley will carry passengers down the tracks to the gate at the start of the trail where visitors can enter…if they dare. For our braver residents, this is a fun evening where you can leave the kids at home. Ladies, leave the heels at home that night and be sure to wear good walking shoes – the Isle is a wooded path with many twists and turns.
Also happening not too far form 360 State, check out the Trail of Terror happening all this month on weekends at PNC Park in Wallingford. Celebrating more than 20 years of terror, this award-winning outdoor haunted attraction takes visitors on a 45-minute scream-filled journey through more than three acres of spooky scenes and living nightmares.
For a free activity with some possible real haunts, head over to the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven. From Oct. 3rd – Nov. 1st the cemetery hosts tours on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at noon. Enjoy their one-hour walking tour to view historical persons, sponsored by the Friends of Grove Street Cemetery.
